Brown Rice
  • Brown rice is a less processed grain than white rice. The inedible husk is removed, however the bran layer remains intact. This bran layer contains B vitamins, minerals and fibre.
  • 80% of brown rice is complex, natural starch, which went eaten and digested is converted to glycogen in the bloodstream, making brown rice one of the cleanest sources of balanced and sustained energy.
  • Macrobiotics say that brown rice, being at the start of it’s life cycle, has a youthful energy; ready to sprout and grow and promotes an eager, adventurous spirit and a stronger sense of direction.

Brown rice is a good source of: (Bold denotes a strong source of)

When I consulted with a macrobiotic counsellor, she touted short grain brown rice as containing the best balance of minerals, protein and carbohydrates.
